Devotion in Bronze: 800 Years of South Indian Sculpture

Chola, Vijayanagara and Nayaka bronzes assembled from private collections — Nataraja, Parvati and Krishna in their most exquisite forms.

Lost-wax bronzes from the 10th to the 18th century, presented in the round under directional light so each curve and incised line reads as the sculptor intended. The show is accompanied by a film crew's three-year documentation of the Swamimalai sthapatis still casting in the same tradition.
