Courts of Colour: Pahari & Rajput Masterworks

12 – 30 September 2026
National Museum, New Delhi
About the exhibition

The finest Pahari and Rajput paintings from the Kangra, Basohli, Jaipur and Bikaner schools — lyricism, devotion and royal splendour on handmade paper.

Ninety-three paintings drawn from the royal collections of Jodhpur, Kishangarh and the erstwhile Hill States trace two centuries of Indian court ateliers. The exhibition places the viewer inside the painter's workshop: ground pigments, burnished gold leaf, squirrel-hair brushes and the poetic texts that guided every composition.
